Just bought a Jeep

I just bought a '03 Saraha in amazing condition. I had a Jeep in high school and still miss it to this day. It's taken me almost 25 years but I am a Jeep owner again. I have a few things I need to do to this TJ so I'm looking forward to going through the fourm for information. I already found a nice post on installng trailer wiring with pics, etc.

Looking good! What mods you got planned for it?

Not much yet... but I really need to put a hitch on it. In fact, the hitch I ordered from etrailer just showed up today and I also got a trailer wiring kit to go with it. I should be installing it this weekend.

I was thinking about replacing the wheels with some american racing teflon rims but the stock rims are nice... maybe later.

If you offroad, it may affect your departure angle... maybe consider an offroad bumper with integrated hitch? Depends a LOT on what you tow with it, but I have towed a long trailer with mine when we removed our hardwood flooring with no issues.

Just keep your towing capacity in mind...

I'm going to tow a boat... not much offroading, more of a beach vehicle. All the intergrated hitches I found were rated at about 1000lbs for towing and I need a little more. I do like the intergrated look and it would be good for my trailer height. I will have to mount my ball with a rise with the hidden hitch I bought to keep my tounge weight down and trailer more level.

Nothing wrong with that, a Jeep makes a great beach vehicle. What beach are you near? Also, you are probably better off with that hitch than an integrated one considering it sounds like you will be regularly towing a boat. Good luck with the wiring, if you haven't done it yet. I didn't have to install mine but have installed a couple at work and have had a fun time with it.
